Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is located both in Arusha and Manyara regions in Tanzania on the road from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Crater .

The two administrative regions have no jurisdiction over the parks. The Tanzania National Parks Authority governs the park. The majority of the land area of the park is a narrow strip running between the Gregory rift valley wall to the west and Lake Manyara, an alkaline or soda lake, to the east.

Lake Manyara national park’s main attraction is Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions – why these lions habitually climb trees is still up for debate, but viewing a pride relaxing in an acacia tree is a remarkable sight! The park is also famous for its elephants, huge number of baboons and monkeys. Its varied landscape and vegetation support an impressive range of other game including wildebeests, buffalos, giraffe, hippos, flamingos, zebras, warthogs, water-bucks, dik-diks and impalas.
