TEN DAYS: TARANGIRE-MANYARA-NGORONGORO-SERENGETI (BASIC)

Overview

This 9-day, fly-in itinerary takes you on a journey through Tanzania’s unrivalled wildlife destinations – Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the fabled Serengeti – to deliver a dramatic and diverse big game safari.

Begin with the beauty of Lake Manyara with its thousands of flamingos and famous tree-climbing lions before moving on to encounter the spectacle of the Ngorongoro Crater floor, home to Africa’s Big 5. The sweeping plains of the Serengeti provide a backdrop for the tour’s grand finale. Game viewing is superb all year round, but if you have timed your safari with the wildebeest migration, you can expect massed herds and plenty of predator action.

Accommodated in a series of elegant lodges, this journey is ideal for first-time travellers to Tanzania or for the return visitor whose heart has been captured by this incredible country. As part of a honeymoon itinerary, combine this tour with a getaway to the romantic spice island of Zanzibar for an ultimate beach and safari combination.

TEN DAYS: TARANGIRE-MANYARA-NGORONGORO-SERENGETI (BASIC)

Day By day Itinerary

DAY ONE: ARRIVAL AT JRO IN THE EVENING FOR A NIGHT IN ARUSHA

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro (JRO), you will meet your driver guide for your transfer to the hotel, which will take less than one hour. Dinner and overnight at Ilboru Safari lodge

DAY TWO: DEPARTURE FROM ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE

After a healthy breakfast, you will meet an office representative for a briefing about your safari then depart for Tarangire national park for game drives. This drive will take around two hours so you will arrive at the park around 11:00. You will stop for a picnic lunch in the park then proceed with evening game drives towards the lodge arriving late evening. Dinner and overnight at Sangaiwe tented camp

DAY THREE: FULL DAY GAME IN TARANGIRE

On this day you will have a full day of game drives in the park. You and your guide will decide the game drive pattern you will be interested in. You may decide to leave for an early morning game drive then come back for late breakfast then leave for another game drive with picnic lunch coming back for dinner. The second option is to leave after breakfast then come back for hot lunch then have a siestre till 4:00 then leave for an evening game drive coming back to the hotel/camp for dinner. The other option is to leave after breakfast with picnic lunch then comes back in the late evening (the last option will give you an opportunity to explore scenes that are far from you accommodation because you will not have time limit) Dinner and night at Sangaiwe tented camp

DAY FOUR: DEPARTURE FROM TARANGIRE TO MANYARA

On this day, you may decide to go for an early morning game drive then come back for breakfast or take a normal breakfast and leave the camp around 8:00. After breakfast, park your bags ready to leave for Lake Manyara national park. You will reach the park around 11:00 and proceed with game drives with a picnic lunch. After the picnic lunch, you will proceed with evening game drives before leaving the park for your hotel in late afternoon. Dinner and night at Country lodge

DAY FIVE: DEPARTURE FROM LAKE MANYARA TO SERENGETI

After a healthy breakfast, you will depart the Karatu region for Serengeti national park. This drive will take you through the Ngorongoro conservation area so you will be able to view the Ngorongoro crater on the way. This drive will take around six hours depending on the game on the way because sometimes there is a high concentration of game on the southern plains .You may have a chance to stop at Olduvai Gorge museum or a Maasai village en route. You will stop for picnic lunch on the way then proceeds to your camp with game drives en route arriving late evening. Dinner and overnight at Kati kati camp

DAY SIX: LEAVE THE CENTRAL SERENGETI TO THE NORTH

After breakfast you should take your picnic lunch and leave the central Serengeti to explore the deeper wildlife of Tanzania. You will move towards the North/South where the great migration is. We provide this option to make sure that our guests are insured of experiencing this remarkable phenomenon. Dinner and night at Mbugani camp

DAY SEVEN: WITH GREAT MIGRATION

On this day we propose a full day game drive with picnic lunch so that you enjoy watching the migratory herds without a limit of time. The possibility of seeing hunts or cats in action is very high on a day spent in the middle of thousands of great mammals. Dinner and night at Mbugani camp

DAY EIGHT: FROM THE NORTH/SOUTH TO CENTRAL SERENGETI

After spending enough time with the migrating herds, this is a day you are going to move to central Serengeti for another night. Here is where the chances of seeing a higher concentration of carnivores are. Arrive at the camp late evening for dinner after a long day of quality time with wildlife. Dinner and night at Kati Kati camp

DAY NINE: DRIVE BACK FROM SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO (CRATER TOUR)

On this last day, you will have an early breakfast and try to leave a bit early from the camp because you will have a long drive. Drive through Ngorongoro conservation area with game drives en route arriving at Ngorongoro crater in the afternoon. You will only have an option of picnic lunch on this day. You will continue with game drives in the crater leaving in the late afternoon for your hotel arriving late evening. Dinner and night at Country lodge

DAY TEN: DRIVE BACK FROM NGORONGORO TO ARUSHA FOR CONNECTING A FLIGHT

On this last day, you will have an easy morning taking a late breakfast. After breakfast, you will depart for Arusha having a possibility to stop at the souvenir shop. At lunchtime, our office representative will meet you for safari debriefing then proceed to the airport for the connection of your flight back home or connect to an EXTENSION for ZANZIBAR
